The Irish Workshop is a place to buy unique, hand crafted gifts from independent, Irish based makers, designers and artists. When you buy an item on the site, you are buying directly from them

For most enquiries, you will should contact the individual seller directly. In particular they can help advise you on:

  • The specifications of a particular product and its availability
  • The customisation options for their product
  • Enquire about the status and ETA of an order
  • Organise a return, refund or replacement

You can contact the seller directly from their store page.

In some cases you may need to contact The Irish Workshop support team directly, especially if your seller is not responding or if you have general queries about the site. Please first check out our FAQ section below. If you can’t find an answer to your question there then just drop us a mail (address below) with as much detail about your question or issue as possible. We will get back to you in a jiffy.

The Irish Workshop Ltd. is based in Ireland (where else?). We’re a small team of people but we’re more than happy to hear from you and will respond to all enquiries as soon as we can. We do not currently offer telephone support.

Customer FAQ

Shipping: When will I receive my product?

When you order on The Irish Workshop, you are ordering from one of our many independent makers, designers and artists across. Your shipping time depends on the maker you have ordered from and on where in the world you’re located. Here are some ways to estimate how long it will take for your order to arrive:

  1. The maker of the item provides an estimate on their product page (e.g. 5-7 days) of how long it will take them to ship your item. Each maker’s time to ship is different based on the nature of their products.
  2. Remember, a lot of the products we offer are hand made to order. Quality takes time. If you are in a bit of a rush why not contact the maker directly (via the “ask the maker a question” tool on their store page) and see if he or she can expedite the process for you.
  3. The maker will also provide an estimate for how long it takes their product to ship to different regions arounds the world (e.g Ireland, UK, Europe, Rest of the World). Again, this will vary depending on the product and the maker’s preferred delivery service.
  4. When your maker ships your order, they will mark is as “complete” in our system which will then notify you of this by email. A tracking number will also be provided to you depending on their choice of shipping. Check if you have received such an email.
  5. If an item is not on time or you’re not sure, you can always send a follow-up message to the maker via their profile page.

If your order is significantly late to arrive and/or your maker is not responding, contact us at support@theirishworkshop.com and we’ll do our best to help you resolve any issues.

 

Shipping: Can you deliver outside of Ireland?

Absolutely yes! Our makers love getting orders from outside of Ireland and happily arrange delivery to anywhere in the world. In some cases there may be restrictions on the import/export of certain products to certain countries. See your products “shipping policy” tab for details of this.

 

Refund Policy: Can I return my order?

Every maker on The Irish Workshop has their own refund policy, which you can see on every product page as well as every maker’s profile page. Every purchase comes with a 14 day right to cancel/return from the date when you receive it with the exception of perishable items or ones that have been customised for you. Please see the relevant purchased product page for more specific details.

If you have a problem with what you’ve received, please contact the maker first via the maker’s store page (providing as much relevant detail as possible). Every maker on The Irish Workshop is curated and approved to sell on our site, so we believe that, in most cases, the maker will be able to resolve the problem for you.

You will be required to bear the cost of returning the goods. Please see the maker’s individual shipping and returns policy for details of this.

How do I cancel an order?

If you wish to cancel your order please contact the maker via his or her store page (providing the relevant order details).  It is easier for everybody if you can cancel before the maker has started processing your order or has shipped it.

As we mentioned above, each maker’s cancellation/refund policy varies but at a minimum you will be entitled to a full refund (subject to return of goods) if requested within 14 days of receipt of the order (again with the exception of customisable or perishable goods).

I have a specific question about a product. What should I do?

If you have a specific question about any product offered through The Irish Workshop, you can use the ‘ask seller a question’ button on the product page. The seller will receive an email notifying them of your question and they will respond as quickly as they can with all relevant information.

What taxes do I have to pay?

The website will automatically include / exclude VAT based on your geographical location.

In general, only people buying within the EU (or more precisely, people with a shipping address in the EU) will be subject to VAT on the order if the maker is registered for VAT. The prices you are shown will automatically VAT but it assumes that you are shipping to the same country where you are currently based (using you IP address). If, however, you are shipping to a different location, then the taxes you are charge may change on checkout.  For example, if you are based in Ireland but shipping to the US then you will see prices including VAT up until you change your shipping address to the US at checkout at which point the taxes will deducted. Conversely, if you are based in the US but shipping to the EU, VAT may be added on checkout (depending on the maker’s tax status).

Your own country may charge additional tax on the import of the goods. You should check the limits and rates for this in advance of purchasing to avoid any nasty surprises.

Can I pay in my local currency?

We currently only accept payments in Euro however we accept all major credit cards and paypal so whether you are based in the US or Australia we will still be able to take your payment but some FX fees may be applied. The prices you see (if not in Euro) are for informational purposes only. On checkout you will see the actual Euro equivalent.
