This is the first candle from our new Irish Collection range.
A Real Turf Fire….. This has become our signature scent, unlike anything else available on the market today. The scent development for this candle has inspired us to go beyond the normal techniques and create our very own! Using our own “smoker” we actually smoke the soy wax using an closely guarded technique with real turf from Achill Island. We love watching people smell this candle for the first time at our stall, you can almost see them going back in time to a long forgotten memory!
For us when we burn this candle it smells of home, safety and wooly hugs! Being from Ireland the true smell of turf smoke does something special for you, it is hard to describe but the best way we can put it is that is how a wooly hug should smell!
We have developed our own ‘scent profiling’ technique to refine the balance of scents, it can take months and months of development before we are happy to release a new scent. We use a mixture of candle fragrance oils, natural fragrance oil and essential oils to produce scents that are complete one of a kinds.
We use only the finest soy wax we can get our hands on. Soy wax is awesome! Its from a renewable source and I feel that nature intended it for candles! It burns beautifully slow and holds onto scent perfectly. We also use lead free wicks which are perfect for soy wax. Paraffin wax is a by-product of crude oil and gives off smoke when it burns, this is why you get black soot on your lovely walls or inside the candle container. Its the last thing you want to do is fill your lungs with it.
When burning your Bearded Candle we would suggest when you burn it for the first time not to blow it out until the entire surface is liquid wax, this will ensure your candle burns evenly with no wax remaining around the edge of the tin. Thereafter only burn your candle for two or three hours at a time. Your room will still smell great for ages after but the candle will last longer and further prevent the wax from building up around the edge of the tin.
